Picton (just 5 km from Wilkes Way Villa) is a great tourist destination where you are able to access transport to and from the Queen Charlotte Track as well as arrange activities such as kayaking, fishing, diving, mountain biking and wine tours.
A 3-minute walk from Wilkes Way Villa takes you to the lively Waikawa Marina, home to 600 boats and a café/bar. You may be lucky to see a stingray cruising these warm Marina waters. Walk for thirty minutes along a track and you will reach another marina and the shops, cafes, library etc. of Picton township.
Waikawa Bay is the gateway to Queen Charlotte Sounds and several charter boat businesses operate taking tourists to a bird sanctuary, diving spots or on scenic cruises. This area provides access to some of the most beautiful walking tracks in New Zealand.
There are many well-known wineries between Picton and Blenheim, and these offer wine-tasting and café dining. You can join an organised tour, or drive for 30 minutes, or even take a bike ride through the vineyards.
We are more than happy to advise and assist you in deciding on what to do and see while here in Picton.
